gratuitous outfit post + giveaway!

I bought a skirt yesterday that I am IN LOVE with and had to share!

I love the black panels down either side - very slimming!
I think ideally that I should hem it about an inch higher...but that's a project I'm in no hurry to bother with.
Sometimes I get really bored having to stick to a black and white dress code at work but today I was really excited about getting dressed.
Let's start at the bottom:
shoes: Circa
skirt: Suzy Shier (on sale!)
turtleneck: joe fresh
necklace: "Coco" by red pheonix emporium (gift)
scarf: Aunt Kaye (gift)
I spent last night trolling the internet looking for a red scarf.  I had a vision of this outfit with a dash of red, but I went for the black and white Coco necklace and a black and white scarf in my hair instead!

I went back to Suzy Shier today on my lunch, armed with a gift certificate I was given today as an early birthday present.  This is what is tempting me now:
With my gift certificate I'd have to pay around $15.00....I'm thinking that it's worth it.
I feel like this is a great summer dress, I don't have a lot of navy, and how cute would it look with a little red sweater!  Should I or shouldn't I?

Now, on to the exciting part...the giveaway
This is my 221st post.  Since 2 is my favourite number, I'm going to celebrate by doing a giveaway on my 222nd post!  This will be my first giveaway...very exciting!
Check back on Monday to get the full scoop in post 222!

  1. I like the dress, go for it! The person who gifted you that necklace has wonderful taste.

  2. I'm guessing the person who gave you the necklace was, in fact, your mother!

I can see why you love your new skirt. It look absolutely stunning, and if you don't buy that dress, you'll sincerely regret it! Buy it!

    1. yup, mum actually gave it to me on mother's day, lol. she's too funny.
I did buy the dress, so glad to have your support!

  3. I love the dress. Buy it. You'll be sorry if you don't. I'm great at helping people make purchases. It's either a good thing or a bad thing.

LOVE the skirt. It looks super-fantastic on you. Seriously. You look like a model. Beautiful.

You should totally link this post up to Pleated Poppy's WIWW. I know you'll get a million clicks on these outfits. They are winners for sure!

    1. thanks FringeGirl, you're right, I would totally regret not buying that I did! Also, thanks for the suggestion! I will!

  4. Great skirt and I too like the dress - snap it up before it's gone!

  5. I love that dress on you and yes you should get it. :) You look good in it! :) I love that skirt too.. love, love, love! :)

  6. I love that skirt! Very flattering and chic. Thanks for linking up to Visible Monday.

  7. Thanks Patti! I found you through Rich Life (on a budget) blog.

  8. Love that dress on you! Looks great, and very unique. I'd buy it if it fits in your budget.

The skirt, however, looks terrible. See how there's horizontal pulling and therefore bumps/waves in both photos in the crotch area and across the hips? That's a giant visual that it's too tight. And generally, the skirt looks too tight and doesn't fall nicely.

    1. Thanks for your feedback! I know the pictures show that pulling and I debated even posting them, but I felt really good while wearing it and received compliments too. I think that the classic "one leg out" pose makes too much of a pull on the fabric and I think it would look better with a couple pounds missing ;)
Next time don't be afraid to leave your name! I'm all for constructive criticism and honest opinions!

Quips & Queries all appreciated!
