Shoveling snow with my gal pals Coco & Katy

With all the news media focused on the public riots and violence in Egypt and the crazy weather in Australia I feel the need to share some beautiful and serene images of what lovely, snowy weather we're getting in Atlantic Canada these days.  Every week we've been getting hit by huge snowstorms and while it's horrible to drive in and annoying to shovel, it really does look pretty.

This is looking out my front door this morning.

And this is looking at my front door!

It was actually difficult for me to shovel last night because I'm kind of short and I had to lift the shovel full of snow up above my shoulder!

I love a fresh blanket of snow covering everything.  I don't think I could live in a snow free climate, I'd miss it too much.  But, I'm a firm believer of "don't knock it 'til you try it" so I'll make the personal sacrifice and test this theory out in Cuba or Morocco any time hubby wants...just to put that out there...

While I was out shoveling snow, under my big red Canadian Olympic mitts...

...was my OPI Katy Perry Black Shatter experiment.

um, Katy...I love your polish collection, but you look even more ridiculous than usual in this get up, and not in a good way.
This is Black Shatter over CHANEL's Black Pearl .
If you haven't tried it already, the Black Shatter is a little finicky.  This was my third, and favourite, manicure with it.  If you brush on a quick, thin coat you get very tiny crackles, almost like a mini faux-crock print.
I wanted to achieve the big splotches as shown on Katy's nails.  To achieve that effect, you really have to glob on a thick layer, but make sure it's not too thick or else it doesn't shatter! Clear as mud right.
It's fun, but inconsistent, prepare to spend time with it.
Also, I find CHANEL's Black Pearl to be very teal/green.  That's not a bad thing, I was just a little surprised when I first got the chance to try it at the CHANEL training this past January.  I like Black Pearl best when I've got one coat of CHANEL's Black Satin underneath.
I only put one coat of Black Pearl over and then I used the Mavala Colorfix top coat.
The black underneath makes the colour deeper.
I swear by the Mavala nail care line.  The Barrier Base Coat, Colorfix Top Coat, & Mavadry are my top 3 picks!

If you are also in Atlantic Canada you can purchase Mavala and CHANEL at Perfumes Plus in Saint John.  They will do phone orders and mail it out to you!
What's on your nails?
Have you tried Black Shatter?  What are your thoughts/tips?

  1. I know I could live without snow. However, like you, I'm prepared to practice somewhere first.
    In my shattered nail polish.

  2. I wouldn't mind living without snow. At Christmas it's nice. By February, I've had it.

  3. Nail polish is complicated!

I do like the color of your house - i could wear nail polish that colour.

And I know I couldn't live with snow ... just know it - No snow. No go. Right ho.

  4. I love the look of snow as long as I don't have to go out in it!! And it kind of puts a damper on fashion some days!

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I appreciate it!!
