Bye Bye Wisdom Teeth & 5 Pounds!

This morning I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed...It was a lot less brutal then everyone had warned me.  Thank you God for answering prayers, I'm sure that had a lot to do with it.
I don't even have bruising or much swelling.
Here's my before pic. Warning: it was early in the morning and I was forbidden to wear make-up.

My nurse said that my procedure was textbook and said everything went perfectly.  She called me Sleeping Beauty as I recoved in the recovery room.

Here's what I looked like by the time I got home.  Almost no swelling...just my lips are super puffy from the freezing...watch out Angelina!

My nurse gave me two icepacks to take with me for the ride home (almost an hour).  She filled baggies with ice and wrapped them in hospital bootie covers! I found this amusing but it works very well.

My nurse was soo cracked up when, upon helping me redress, she noticed that the socks I wore into the operating room had skulls and crossbones on them.  She laughed and didn't think they were very encouraging when going into surgery.  Honestly, they matched so I put them on.  I like my skull socks.

Please note the totally '80s comforter that I became co-owner of when marrying my husband

Jana, my neighbour and sis-in-law, came over with my nephew and brought me flowers and a balloon!
I have such good friends and fam!
Look how pretty they are (the flowers, not the family....not that they aren't pretty, I'm just not posting a pic of them to show you).

ALSO

I've involuntarily embarked on a new weightloss program.   I've disovered a secret I'm suprised dentists aren't marketing:  Quick, Easy Weightloss due to dental surgary.  It hurts to eat anything but soup and apple sauce and I've been drinking water all day.   They really need to start capitalizing on this.
A simple dental  day surgery is a great way to shake off that last stubbern 5 pounds.  Want to look a little better for that date next week...call your dentist!  I had all wisdom teeth removed but if you've done that already try a Gum Graft.  Read all about it here: http://www.perio.org/consumer/grafts.htm
Have a more serious weightloss goal?  Talk to your dentist about that annoying under/over bit problem....or headaches...then have them break your jaw and wire your teeth shut!  No solid food for weeks is just the thing for those lacking the will power (a good sense) to eat well and exercise.  The painfull and invasive gastric bypass surgery is no longer the only surgical option!  Take that Jenny Craig... we don't need your crappy food either, we have dentists!

m&m's + pac-man = my saturday night

Every Saturday night my husband and I have youth group.  We alternate between weeks at our house and weeks at the church.  When it's at our house it's very laid back fellowship; we usually play board games and chat and the teens bring friends.  On the opposit Saturdays, at the church, it's only the worship team that meets and it's more serious devotions, prayer, and practicing worship music.  Tonight was at our house and it was definately not a serious night!  Proof shown by the photos below:

It all started with this bowl of mini m&m's (notice there are no red ones as I bought this entire package to use only the red ones for Valentine's Day cookies....which btw actually got made the day after Valentine's and didn't turn out at all...I digress).

As we were all eating the mini m&m's this guy (above) started making pictures with them....one thing led to another and soon true art project was about to be realized....

He is now hard at work to create the Pac-Man game out of m&m's!

and even Pac-Man himself!

PAC-MAN!

random shot of matt's arm because a 12 yr old was using my camera!

Great art is timeless....m&m art is yummy!

God Bless us all, everyone.

Pretty Dresses

I'm a girl. I love pretty dresses. I wish we lived in the '50s when every woman wore a 'day dress' and then really dressed up for evening. People used to dress up to go to the theatre, to travel...now dressed up is not wearing pajama pants! So I take great joy when there are occaisions to get really gussied up!
K is so not a girly girl, but it just goes to show when you find the right dress you can't help but feel fabulous!
Here's her in modeling her prom dress:

...and just for nostalgia... me in my prom dress. I'm in the red, my friend Tara is in the blue.

Spa at Home

I married a good man. For the last week I've been fighting a cold which I now have in full force (ugh). So the other night I came home from work around 9pm and was too tired to even wash my face. You know how sometimes it just seems like such a chore? I knew I needed to because working as a make-up artist I had a fair pile of it on, lol. So I asked my hubby if he'd give me a mini facial if I guided him step by step. And bless his heart he did!! Here's my facial station. I laid on my couch and he went down the line product by product.
I think I'll keep him around :)

Prom Dress Shopping!

I'm going prom dress shopping!! Not for me, been there done that (twice) but for my cousin (K).
I'm excited she and her mom want to take me. She's tried a few on, and today we're going in so she can try them on for me and her mom's going to buy this one :)

The dress she's getting is awesome! K's not 'girly' at all, so I really didn't know how she would takle the whole prom scene. She and her girlfriends are all going as each other's dates and she'll be wearing this yellow number!
I'm hoping she'll let me do her hair & make-up like her older sis did....she let me do her make-up for grad photos, so I think that's a good sign.

Editor in Chief

I have been given the task of editing a novel. It's quite exciting! My father in law has been wanting to and talking about writing a historical fiction on James Beyea, a loyalist of whom he is a descendent. Last month he took a 3 week sabatical to do it.
I'm learning alot as I read and discovering quite the hidden talent of my father in law's writing skills. I shouldn't be surprised as he is an excellent story teller.
The first part of my job as editor is to take all of his handwritten pages and type them so they can be saved and edited by computer. I have 97 pages to type. Today I typed about 21 which, when I ran the word count feature, is 6,325 words! And let me say that reading his handwriting is not the easiest of tasks!

Neutrogena skinId update: my skin is still breaking out!! and I find the pimples are lasting longer than usual...I've been on it 3.5 weeks now...I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to give it....I'm so frustrated by breakouts!

5 random things from the past week
  1. My boss invited me and a co-worker out to a fancy dinner (can't wait!)
  2. my sis-in-law went to and came home from a 2 day trip in NYC!
  3. started planning my own trip to NCY with her, my mom and my other sis in law
  4. made sloppy joes for supper last night (yum!)
  5. gave up television
