Oh What A Feeling...

...scraping off the ceiling.

My bathroom ceiling is atrocious!

I have decided to tackle scraping and repainting it.

Mum lent me her trusty scraper!

I'm sharing so that I have someone/everyone to be accountable to.  Stay tuned for the 'after' pics of my newly painted ceiling.

And, while I'm on the subject of bathrooms....mine is quite small.
Postage stamp size.  It's fine for the two of us, but I'm a make-up artist and a pack-rat....I crave lots of space and storage in a bathroom.
I am standing in the doorway to take this picture.
not much extra room.
(Yes, we have a coca-cola themed bathroom. No, we are not university students. Deal.)

So, when one has a small space and limited storage, one has to consider how and what to buy.  One can't buy useful items in bulk because there is no place to put the bulk!  One can't take advantage of those great deals and bargains...unless it's my hubby.
He's very particular about toilet paper being of a certain quality.  So, when his ultra-super-soft-cashmere-velvet-whatever toilet paper went on sale he took advantage.

Where did I put 30 double rolls of toilet paper (that equal 50 as they claim)?!?  Well, for a while this giant pack just sat in our living room.  Sadly, I kid you not.  But this is where they did end up:

Not quite as attractive as the leaning tower of pisa, but it will suffice.

Do you have storage challenges?  What are your solutions?

updates and jazz

This has been the longest week ever!
And it's not over yet!  Still have to work all day Saturday, youth group Saturday night at my house, and sing with youth worship team Sunday morning...I'm exhausted already.

Work is slow.

I'm constantly tired.

I've eaten almost two batches of chocolate chip cookies.

But I did go to Zumba and the gym for a workout...still sore, but I have to do something to make up for all those cookies.

Now, to end the complainfest I have a lovely story.
Last night I was watching tv on the couch with my hubby and stretched my feet out to which he groaned because they smelled really bad.  I had worn pantyhose all day at work, they were a little pungent.  He kept batting them off the couch until I suggest that he wash them for me if they offend him so...and he did!  What a dear.
We didn't have any basin or anything, and I wanted to stay on the couch and continue watching "Divine Design" so I emptied my craft supply rubbermaid bin into my work bag and hubby filled it with soapy water, brought it over on a towel, exfoliated my feet with a scrub (needs to learn to be a little less aggressive but that will come with practice) and finished by toweling them dry and applying a Gehwol cream specifically for odor.
Twas lovely...the highlight of my week really.

Now I'm off to bed!

Enjoy your weekend!

Evil Giant Flower Pots & other Trauma

First of all what's up with this?!

Crazy giant flower pots are invading this parking lot!

They are actually taking up parking spots...more specifically they are taking up spots that are better than the handicap spaces!!!!
What kind of flower pots take spaces away from handicap people...evil kinds, that what.
soo* weird...

I am not a stranger to hair trauma....I must admit that most of it is self-inflicted.  I once went to a hair dresser for "a trim and even out my layers" and her comment was "Who cut your hair the last time?! No wonder you're not going there anymore!"....I didn't have the guts to confess it was actually me...thinning shears take a little practice Who Knew?

Last March I realized I had Heather Ledger hair circa "10 Things I Hate About You"...relive the trauma by clicking here

Today was actually a good hair day, but I had to sleep in rollers to achieve it...sleeping in rollers is not fun.

Moving on, now my mother is experiencing hair trauma.  You can read her recount the tale at her blog .  I think her new hair is cute, but she needs some time to get used to it.  What do you think?
I belive her comment was "I don't do layers, I'm not Jennifer Aniston from Friends people!"

oh mum.

My co-worker said that maybe the hairdresser thought mum needed to be "funkied up".
It's definately a change from her hair last week:

Her mane distress (get it?) is that it won't "Pony Up".  But I'm sure if she's really determined and armed with enough hairspray a sleek low pony (a la Carl) can be acheived.  Or at least 2 fun pigtales!

Stay tuned for the "Evolution of Mum's Hair" post....hopefully I won't get kicked out of the will (again).

*  I treat the word "so" like the word "to/too".  ie:  "I went to the store"
                                                                                "You are too funny"
"So, I went to the store"
                                                                                "You are soo funny"
ps, FringeGirl, you should teach this new form of grammar to your children.  It's more expressive.

Date Night

I had an impromtu date night last night!  A good girlfriend P emailed me mid afternoon and we decided to go see a movie... a late show!  Living on the edge I am.

We saw Eat Pray Love and boy did we eat.
When P goes to a movie she is armed and ready.  When she picked me up I had a large bag of Mini Eggs and a bottle of water already in my purse for movie treats, and when I got in her car I saw all her loot: large bags of Skittles, Oh Henry Bites, and Red Nibs!  Then we happened to bump into a friend of P's so she came too!  As we watched Julia, aka Groceries, eat all kinds of lovely cuisine, we gorged ourselves on popcorn (each our own, no sharing here!) and chocolate and candy.  There's a scene in the movie where Julia and a friend are eating pizza in Naples and the friend is unsure about eating because she's developing a muffin top from all her careless gorging on Italian food.  Julia says to her something to the effect of "Have you ever been naked infront of a man and he told you to get out?" "No" "Well, have you ever been naked with a man and he left?" "No". "Exactly.  They are in the same room with a naked woman, they're happy.  So, eat your pizza and tomorrow we'll go on a date and buy bigger jeans".  I told P that we needed to go on another date and buy bigger jeans.

The movie ended around 11 and P dropped me off at my house.  Hubby had waited up for me.  I told him about the movie, and then had to explain all the junk food because I suddenly developed the worst stomach ache ever!  Obviously I am too old for late shows and that much's sad really...the end of an era....

This morning I ate yogurt and am about to steep some green tea...I feel the need to cleanse.

Car Lashes

Sometimes I have a hard time distinguishing tacky things from fabulous things...and sometimes I don't care.

Case in point:

For around $25 US you can 'feminize your car'.
They even have 'crystal eyeliner' bands to put above the lashes!

Who thinks of this stuff?!  And makes money!!
Would you buy car lashes?  Do you already have car lashes?  If so, I want to see a picture!!
